I’m Dexter B. Lewis Jr., made in the booming 80s, born in the neo 90s. I came to birth February 16, 1990 after 33 exaggerated hours of labor. That was the beginning of a boundless struggle—the story of my life. As a native of the “Box State,” I grew up feeling confined. Trapped in a city one mile high to nowhere. I was surrounded by the people who should’ve made it out, but never stopped to think outside the box. I realize not that when you’re determined to go places, it doesn’t matter where you come from. In fact, the trouble is having the will to overcome the stumbling blocks that deter us from reaching the place where potential is actualized and dreams become reality. This is what art does for me. Art allows me to go places my mind can only dream of. All it takes is one determined stroke after another until the completion of a vision. My vision is to uplift people through creative expression, which we call art. .
